VPAW students do not need to reach these required hours in the year. However, these weekly average hours help VPAW track participation and are helpful indicators for parents to gauge student participation.
Wyoming State Law requires:
Participation elements are defined as: a student’s course activity, assignments submitted, teacher approved offline tracker, graded assignments, attendance to live and recorded teacher instruction, participation in testing, and teacher discretion. Failure to meet weekly participation in a course may result in an unexcused absence for the course if no documentation is provided. *Having no internet is an UNEXCUSED absence.
Course Attendance: Students in grades K-10 must log into each graded course card at least once a week and be engaged in the course Monday through Sunday. This will be translated into an attendance code Mon-Fri. If there are 10 consecutive absences in any 1 graded course, an 11th absence causes loss of membership.
Daily Attendance: 10 consecutive absences, per state law, the student will become truant, an 11th absence results in loss of membership (removal) from Virtual Prep Academy of WY (VPAW).
